Christmas prep/Baby Kate

Miller tradition is to go together as a family and pick out a real live wonderfully smelling Christmas tree--- and then take a picture with it! This year was a little different. A) It was terribly cold--like Minnesota Cold and B) some nasty flu-like virus was going through our home and so half of the family was sick.  Reece and Spencer were kind enough to go find us a tree from our favorite store-- Costco.
One of my favorite things is watching the kids put ornaments on the tree.  Benson traditionally puts all his bulbs on the same branch, which he continued this year, and Reece is very meticulous in placing his ornaments.  Tanner didn't feel well and was patiently waiting for the train to get set up. It was Reece's turn to put the angel on the top of our tree-- I was half expecting the tree, Reece and Spencer to come crashing down because it was quite the extension getting him high enough to reach! But when all was said and done, we enjoyed a wonderful and beautifully decorated Christmas tree.  There was an extra amount of sweetness and peacefulness in our home, especially as we studied the life of Christ each night as a family around our tree.  We had a mini tree that we put ornaments on each night that correlated with a story from Christ life-- the kids really enjoyed these stories.  Many of them had Bible videos that the church has produced which made it all that much better for the boys.  I think one of my favorite parts of Christmas time is spending each night as a family reading scriptures and having family prayer. There is a unique spirit and it is my wish that my boys will be able to feel and recognize the spirit of Christmas or the Spirit of Christ.

Funny story: a couple days after we put our Christmas tree up we got a lot of snow.  The boys had come home from school and were playing in it.  Benson had covered his entire body except for his head with snow so they wanted me to come outside and take a picture.  After I got the awesome picture-- I started the snow blower and cleared the driveway.  Half-way through shoveling I hear a "MOM---MOM" I walked inside the house to find the tree on the floor.  The boys were playing tag and Benson ran behind the tree and oops! it came tumbling down.  Lesson learned-- never run, hide, or crawl behind a Christmas tree.  It looked pretty beaten up after that accident.  Did I mention that it feel over 3 times before Spencer came home that day….ya, it was lovely.

Baby Kate! Oh I just love her.  One of my favorite parts of each week is when Spencer takes the boys to church and Kate and I are left home to take pictures and snuggle while watching a cheesy Hallmark Christmas show.  Nothing is more sweet and perfect then that.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from one of our Sunday photo shoots!
