GO BSU! ESPN GAME DAY!

ESPN Game day was at Boise State for the BSU vs. Oregon State game.

My cousin Calvin got married earlier that afternoon so after the wedding ceremonies the family rushed to the house for a big football party!!! We ended up winning (of course!!) 37-24!

We had lots of delicious food, good ole' comedy from the Grandpa's, and fun entertainment provided by our beloved bronco's!

My cousin Heather and I!

Spencer and Reece

My soapbox: Reece will never have a DS--it amazes me how addicting they can be. Whenever he is around them, the world stops existing except for the darn computer/video game.

Tenderness

This morning was busy. I had a Young Women's event, and Reece had his primary program practice. To be honest, the last two days have been crazy busy. So this afternoon the boys took a nap and I did laundry, blogged, and rested. But, I was still tired after the boys decided to wake up, so I sat myself on the couch and watched football while the boys played in the other room.

I heard them laughing together so I grabbed my camera and this is what I found:Reece was giving Benson shots with a broken arm off his optimist prime toy.

This evening I mustered up enough energy to get the boys Halloween costumes on and go to Grandma and Grandpa Miller's trunk or treat. The boys had a great time and came home with glow sticks which they thought were way cooler than candy!!

Reece told me the chocolate candy and candy with milk he collected is for his Dad. Tomorrow I plan on convincing him it's really for his Mom! :) P.S. Does anyone have any simple costumes for me and Spencer? To be perfectly honest, I'm terrible at getting dressed up. Not because I don't enjoy it, but because it's stressful coming up with costumes for the two of us.

Golfing with Grandma

My Mom took the boys and I out to hit balls on Thursday. It was quite the sight. We were the odd ducks on the course. And this is why...
1. I was a fanatical Mother taking pictures left and right saying, "oh this is so cute" over and and over again. I'm sure I annoyed the heck out of the people next to us.
2. Reece carried his own golf clubs and took things very seriously. He would crouch next to me as I was preparing to hit and say in a VERY serious voice, "now mom, you need to swing up slow, and then swing hard and hit the ball. But keep your eyes on the ball.
3. Benson decided he wanted to play and every time he hit the ball he would say, "YEA!" with his club high up in the air!
4. I was a disgrace to the game of golf. If you look closely at this picture you will notice the ball is still on the tee. On average it took me 2-3 swings before I hit the ball. It was so noticeably bad that Jeff Thompson, the big Golf Guru & owner of Indian Lakes Golf Course (i think?) came up to me and gave me some free pointers. He then gave us a 3 for 1 deal for golf lessons.
5. Also notice in the above picture that my mother is wearing a winter jacket. Just so you know, it was a perfect fall day with zero wind and temperatures in the high 60's.
6. And then there is Nicole who sat on the bench wearing a winter jacket refusing to hit the ball. I told her she had to stand there and smile for the camera!
7. Benson and I missed out on putting because we had to run home to let the piano tuner come in. The piano tuner was supposed to come on Tuesday, but I had the ultimate forgetful day (which I may post about) and ended up locking myself out of our house causing us to miss our appointment.

Peach Jam

Making Peach Jam with Grandma Miller.
The Jam turned out sooo yummy!

The backyard

We have an apple tree in our backyard that only produced 2 non-edible apples this year. Spencer and Reece decided to take matters into their own hands and took a visit to the library to learn how to prune an apple tree. Here are the pics of the event!A couple weeks ago I was making dinner and looked outside the window to find the boys taking a break from their outside adventures. I thought it was cute that they had both found a freesbie to play with!

Bed time...

45 minutes after I put them to bed, I started to hear some sounds coming from the munchkin room. I opened the door and found the boys sitting in Benson's bed together laughing (they had opened the blinds to add to their adventure). I asked them what they had been up to and in unison they said, "watching a movie". I then asked what movie. "Lightning McQueen". They proceeded to tell me about their sweet set up. They had stacks of movies hanging from the top of the bunk bed, and then had another stack of movies that were broken.
My favorite parts about this were 1) they were partners in crime and having the time of their life and 2) they were using their imaginations to create their own dream world.

Little man loves the outdoors

This is our little man who LOVES to be outside. Lucky for me our house came with a built in alarm, so everytime an outside door opens, I hear a beep! You can find Benson riding his bike atleast a couple times a day! It's precious.

Grandma & Grandma's 50th

I just received professional pictures taken from Sarah Zywgart from my grandparents
50th wedding anniversary. I wanted them in my journal, so here they are!

Homestead farm & corn maze

Reece had his first pre-school field trip today. We went to the Homestead farm and corn maze. I was super impressed with how many activities they had for preschoolers. Here are some (ok, way to many) pictures!!

This was a HUGE tarp thingy that was turned into a trampoline. They put sand around it and filled it up with air. Genius idea and lots of fun! Cow tractor ride
1 of the 3 mazes. This is the boys celebrating their victory over the maze. Reece is pumping his fist up and down, and Benson is running up and down screaming!
I LOVE LOVE this picture. He looks like a sweet little boy.
We took a hay ride to the pumpkin patch. The boys were smart and picked small pumpkins which were easy to carry around.
And this is the story of my boys life. They both run around holding their pants up because
1. Reece is so skinny nothing will stay on his non-existent hips
2. Benson's pump is hiding in his pant pocket making his pants fall down.
So this picture is CLASSIC!
THE END!
P.s. I really don't enjoy cold weather. I was cold today and decided I wanted to lay under my bed covers for one hour and read a book (The Gernsey literary and potato peel pie society). It was a heavenly hour. And...Benson's BG range was 46-125 today. I dont' think we have ever had such a low day. The unfortunate part is the last 2 nights he has been in the 300-400's pretty much all night long. That equals no sleep for mommy, lots of diaper changes, shots in the night, and changing pump site (lucky for me he sleeps through it all!).
Oh, did I mention Benson can climb to the top of the bunk bed without a ladder? Crazy kid.
