Toliet training-our first attempt...

I just got done reading New Moon by Stephanie Meyer and told myself I couldn't start the next book until I had Reece potty-trained. So I got really excited about training him, read a book about it, and started the process this morning. Needless to say, it was a total failure. The first hour went great. He was doing everything he was supposed to do. The only problem was every time he would stand up, or I would turn my head, he would wet his pants. After 3 1/2 hours, 4 accidents, baby Benson screaming because he thought he was being neglected, a messy kitchen, and not a single time actually making it into the potty, I decided to give up and start my new book. Reece is such a great kid and every time he had an accident he would start crying because he felt so bad. I take full blame for not succeeding today and will try again in a month!!! :)

I am sorry your plan didn't work to train him in one day. Apparently I wasn't potty trained until 4 years old and my mom was totally stressing. The Doc she worked with said Julie I have 7 kids and all of them went to school potty trained, she'll be fine. Good luck I am not looking forward to potty training Addie at all.

No it is not your fault. Reece is the smartest little guy in the world it makes me sad that he was sad. Just not his time yet. I LOVE the pictures with the sethascope. Your fam is so cute. I want to see you and play- just one more week.

Here's the deal. I have potty trained two kids and both boys. No matter what books say, I have never known a kid to be completely potty trained in a day. The key word is completely. He is smart, but he is only 2 1/2. Give him some time and yourself as well. It is a very stressful thing to do and I don't know a mom who hasn't broken down into tears while doing it(well, your mom probably didn't, but she is superwoman :)). If I were you, I would wait until you are done nursing Ben and Spence has the day off to entertain Ben. That will get you through the 1st day and then you will have a couple days of getting it down after that, provided he doesn't have a poo issue like my Spence did. You are a great mom and I am so glad you decided to wait. There is no rush, other than the diaper issue. Good luck and enjoy Eclipse. It's a goodie!
