Hawaii Feb 2017

HAWAII Trip 2017
We took an awesome trip to Kauai, Hawaii for a week with Clarissa and Darrin Craner. They were fun travel buddies and we would love to travel with them again. We got a killer deal with our Marriott Resort thanks to my Dad's hookup with Marriott ($99 a night)! We ate so much delicious food, hiked the Na Poli coast (on our bucket list), paddle boarded and surfed, hiked some more, saw the light house (which was infested with these little flying beetles that would bite you), ate a couple Hula pies, swam in the hot tubs, went to a Luau....okay, you need to hear the story for this one.  We crashed the amazing pools at the Grand Hyatt (we went here in Residency with the Ormes and feel in love with this place) and then went straight to the Luau in our beach clothes.  When we got there we immediately realized we were totally out of place.  Everyone was dressed all fancy and nice, and we came in with wet hair and beach clothes on. It was hilarious! But we had the most delicious food and had a great performance from the luau dancers!
The trip was a little rainy, but we didn't let that stop us from having fun. It was the perfect break and we really enjoyed spending so much time with Clarissa and Darrin.

Reece's 11th Birthday Party

Reece really wanted to have his birthday party at Classic Fun Center.  Its a fun (but old and kind of dirty) warehouse full of inflatables, roller skating, laser tag, a blast zone, and a small arcade. We invited a bunch of his friends and they had a BLAST! A couple of the kids ended up having their parties there because they had such a good time.  All I cared about was that Reece was happy-- and he had a blast so that was good enough for me.
We like to celebrate our birthdays for a week so we went to Wendy's for dinner (he is currently obsessed with their Jr. Bacon Hamburgers), had a Friend party at Classic Fun Center, a family party with the Buchanan's with a cool cake, took Root Beer floats to his classroom, and got a drone which was all he wanted! I'd say it was a successful birthday.

February 2017

February brought lots of cold temps-- but whole lot of fun!

Escape room date with Russ and Becky McIllece! We managed to escape with few minutes left-- but we left feeling like we conquered and exercised our brains a little. It was great fun!
SKIING at ALTA! We are obsessed with Alta Ski resort. We got a family season pass this year (thanks to Dad doing some extra moonlighting) and have enjoyed going almost weekly.  We only live 20 minutes from the ski resort (heavenly...wonderful...the BEST thing ever!) and so we get a babysitter for Tanner and Kate for the morning, and then while the older boys and Spence eat lunch (their favorite chicken tenders and fries from the lodge)-- Mom runs down the canyon and grabs Kate and Tanner for an afternoon ski where we teach Tanner to ski.  It's such a fun Saturday tradition for our family.

Benson is such a great helper with cousin Grace.  He loves taking care of the little kids.
Dad was at work and I was exhausted so I told them they could have some extra electronic time if they rubbed my feet and played with my hair.  It was a GREAT deal on my part. :)

Sometimes Spence doesn't have to go into work until noon-- and so we take advantage of it and go for a breakfast date with the little kids.

Another great ski day with my buddies!
Cute kiddos exhausted from a day full of fun!
Benson was super proud of this really cool Valentines box he made.  I was impressed with his creativity as well.
For Martin Luther King Jr. day we were invited to our friends cabin in Big Cottonwood canyon.  The kids had tons of fun sledding and Jen and I enjoyed time chatting and keeping the kids bellies full and happy.  We love the Young family!
FHE at the yogurt store! We LOVE it when we find a place that our entire family can eat at. It makes us all happy (mom things this yogurt place is nasty and full of cheap and airy yogurt so she grabs something at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory which is conveniently in the same yogurt shop)!

Tanner and Lily--AKA...boyfriend and girlfriend. I hope they get married someday! If you say Tanner's name around Lily she will correct you and say "you mean my boyfriend". So cute!
Kate is Miss Independent.  She kept asking me for some apple and I kept telling her "just a minute" because I was trying to help with piano and homework. So she jumped the counter, grabbed a knife and apple, and decided to cut it herself! Another really funny time was when I was in a different room and she wanted ice cream-- I told her no, or wait a minute (can't remember which) and minutes later I walked into the kitchen with her on the floor with her coconut ice cream, a bowl and a spoon and is eating her ice cream that she had dished by herself into the bowl.
I love catching my kids reading.  We love visiting the Museum of Curiosity-- they have a library there and Kate found some books to read while visiting that section of Kidopolis.
Star Wars Pack meeting.  Benson earned some awards and Reece graduated from cub scouts and earned his arrow of light award.

Kate has darling nursery leaders and often times comes home from church with newly painted nails. She LOVES it!
This is my little buddy. I was feeling bad about her leaving her for a week while I went to Hawaii and so we had to have a little snuggle girl session before I left.

Even though I HATE being cold-- when I get good snow and the kids are with me skiing-- I have a total blast! I love how excited they get when they find good runs, jumps or passages through trees. I also really enjoy my time with them on the chairlift.  We often have great conversations while sitting there and it seems like they really like the one on one attention from their parents.
