Happy Birthday Reece!!!

Reece turned THREE! Craziness. He has been looking forward to his birthday for quite some time. I told him he couldn't wear diapers when he turned three and so for a couple weeks he was going to stay two. At the most random times he would say, "mom, i just want to be two". Anyway, he had a great birthday. We did family activities on his birthday (monday) and today we had a birthday party with his friends. The highlight of his birthday was the cake and picking out a fish at the pet store. We are so lucky to have Reece in our family. He makes us laugh everyday and is an awesome older brother to Benson. Happy Birthday Reece!

Reece's birthday party! We painted, played with play-dough, decorated cupcakes with "little chef" hats, & opened presents. The kids had a great time and so did the mommies!

All Reece wanted for his birthday was a Thomas the Train cake. After breakfast Reece and I made a cake and frosted it. It has a lot of personality to it! enjoy. :)

Birthday Fish named "Persee" (from Thomas the Train)
Our human vacuum. Who needs a vacuum when you have Benson. (I'm not sure why there was a sucker on the floor-but he found it!)

HiLaRiOuS VIDEO!

This movie is hilarious. Spencer was in Bensons room talking to his parents and I was in our room filing some papers when I heard the boys laughing. I peaked around the corner and they were in their own little world laughing about nothing--just each other!

In need of laptops...

For those of you who don't know, the Winter Special Olympics is currently going on in Boise. There are people from all over the world participating in winter sports just like they did in Beijing, but in a more beautiful and exciting city (just trying to sell Boise to all my friends who don't live there!). Spencer's parents had athletes from Monaco (a tiny country in France) and my parents have had a coach and two athletes from the El Salvador hockey team. The El Salvador team is the poorest team in the world. The goalie uses a broom as a hockey stick and their uniforms are old t-shirts with taped letters on them. My mom has found people to donate shirts for their team, but is now looking for old laptops. The coach will use these laptops for his athletes, it will be their only access to computers/Internet. She is trying to find 3-4 to send home with him. If you have old laptops you no longer use and want to donate them to the El Salvador special Olympic team--just give me a call!!! Like I said, these don't need to be fancy. They just need to work!
Thanks!

I win, I win!

Now you too can be a winner like me! Thanks Clarissa! Lucky you!The first three people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2- What I create will be just for you.
3- It'll be done this year. (might be a little while)
4- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or an article on properly cleaning your face before a masque. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
5- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must repost this on your blog and offer the same to the first 3 people who do the same on your blog. The first 3 people to do so and leave a comment will win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me!

My sweet but nerdy microbiologist

Like I said before, this past week has been CRAZY! Spencer had an anatomy final today and has three more tests this week. So you can imagine what his schedule has been as of late--study, eat, study, bathroom break, study, say hello to the family, study, study, and maybe get a couple hours of sleep. He falls asleep in the same position every night--see picture below! His study habits have turned him into a nerd. For example:

Story #1:Yesterday, Reece was sitting on Spencer's lap during Sacrament meeting. Spencer had his hands underneath Reece's thigh. Reece started moving which caused his thigh to tense. Spencer wasn't thinking "Reece stay still", instead he thought "oh, I can feel his illio-tibial band firing which is a sheet of strong connective tissue in the..." he continued for the next five minutes naming everything it was connected to, what surrounded it, and so forth. He later told me how much fun he had doing that.

Story #2: Spencer's next test is microbiology. He is currently memorizing all the bacterias for his test. He randomly will start talking about different bacterias he is learning about and at the end of every comment he says, "I'm going to be so much more paranoid now that I know this". About five minutes will pass and we start the process all over again. Our poor children, not only will they be clean freaks, but now they will be germ freaks. HELP!

Our new friend "Gosh"

We have a new friend that joined our family today. His name is "Gosh". He is blue and white and has a special bowl that conveniently comes out when the starburst wrapper that sits in the middle of the bowl is wet. He is portable and today's favorite spot was in front of the T.V.. He likes to watch Curious George, Super Why, and Thomas the Train. Gosh has a buddy named Reece. Actually, Reece was the one that named our new friend "Gosh"--he takes after his new favorite phrase--"oh my gosh". Gosh loves Reece, but the friendship isn't always mutual. Reece and Gosh were inseparable for 3 hours straight today while they watched their favorite t.v shows. Once that was over, Mrs. Clorox (me), decided she was tired and called her mom. Reece was suddenly filled with energy jumping & running around the living room like a crazy little boy. Suddenly--there was a wet spot right next to Gosh but not inside him. That made Gosh sad. However, Mrs. Clorox was there to save the day and clean the wet spot up! Unfortunately, Mrs. Clorox was extra busy today and Gosh's special bowl never left him.

If you haven't figured it out yet, "Gosh" is Reece's potty training toilet. We hope to have a better day with our new friend tomorrow!

Dr. Miller

Today was a much anticipated day. We received some of Spencer's medical supplies. We are now the proud owners of:
-a blood pressure cuff
-reflex hammer
-two tuning forks (to test hearing
-an otoscope (to check ears)
-an ophthalmoscope (to check eyes)
-suture kit (this will probably be used a lot in our house)
The timing of arrival of these instruments was perfect. Spencer has a crazy testing week starting next week and so as you can imagine he will be heavy into his books for the next week. It's always nice to have something to get excited about that doesn't deal with books and studying!
